About Us
Who We Are
Job’s Daughters is for girls ages 10-19 (with a Jobie-to-Bee program for younger girls), and when you join you have an instant connection with other members – both locally and around the world – because we’re where friends become sisters! We have over 11,000 members worldwide and have Bethels (local groups) in the United States, Canada, Australia, the Philippines, and Brazil. Our members run their own meetings and plan their Bethel’s calendar of fun events, community service projects, and fundraisers based on their likes and dislikes.
Our History
Job’s Daughters was founded in 1920 (and came to Illinois in 1922) and our name – and lessons – are based on the Book of Job, especially the 42nd Chapter 15th Verse: “In all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren.” To be “fair” is not based on physical appearance but on doing good. We teach the importance of patience and faith to earn reward. This isn’t like a prize at the end of a game – it’s the happiness and fulfillment of a life lived well, and a positive difference made in the world.
What We Do
Job’s Daughters aims to make the world a better place, and not just for its members. Bethels regularly support local charities and plan community service projects, contributing time and money to causes that are important to them. Additionally, we are all supporters of the Hearing Improvement Kids Endowment (HIKE) Fund. The HIKE Fund is the official philanthropic project of Job’s Daughters International, and it is a nonprofit charity that provides grants to children in need for hearing devices. Since 1985, Job’s Daughters International has raised over $6.4 million dollars for this amazing cause – we love being kids helping kids!
Our Volunteers
Job’s Daughters cannot exist without its members, but a team of Certified Adult Volunteers (CAVs) is also essential to the success of a Bethel. The most important job of a CAV is ensuring the safety of our members, which is why all CAVs must take a class and pass a background check. But a CAV is so much more than a chaperone! These trusted adults also offer advice and assistance and serve as mentors and role models. They make a lasting impact on the lives of our members – both inside and outside of the organization!
