About Us

ABOUT JDI

Job's Daughters International was founded by Ethel T. Wead Mick on October 20, 1920 in Omaha, Nebraska.

Our founder named the organization after the Book of Job with specific reference to the 42nd Chapter, 15th verse, "and in all the land were no women found so fair as the Daughters of Job."

Job's Daughters International is open to girls between the ages of 10 and 20 who have a Masonic Relationship (either through a relative or sponsorship).

While JDI does not follow any specific religion, we do require our members to believe in a Higher Power.

Parents are always encouraged to attend our meetings. While there are many traditions, there are no embarrassing rituals. Members wear Grecian robes which symbolize democracy and equality.

Each Bethel (chapter) meets twice a month. Meetings and activities are planned and ran by the Daughters under the supervision of the adult volunteers.

Members make life-long friends across the globe, learn life skills, build confidence, and promote charitable acts.

While there are many misconceptions about Masonic organizations, we are not a cult and do not participate in hazing our members.

ABOUT ILJD

Illinois Job's Daughters was chartered in 1922. Our jurisdiction is operated by a Grand Guardian Council and has a working Grand Bethel.

ILJD welcomes girls of all ages, even younger than 10. Girls younger than 10 are welcome to join our Jobie-to-Bee program. This helps girls gain exposure to the organization, have fun, and meet the current members & other Jobie-to-Bees around the state.

Illinois JD is unique because we have 5 Ambassadors: Grand Bethel Honored Queen, Miss IL Job's Daughter, Jr. Miss Illinois Job's Daughter, Honorary State Honored Queen, and Chairmen of Grand Representatives. Some jurisdictions may only have a Miss and/or Grand Bethel Honored Queen. To find out what each office does, visit their individual pages located in the About Us drop down menu.

We have 17 Bethels across our great state. To find a Bethel closest to you, please visit our Bethel locator

Job's Daughters is located in the United States, Canada, Philippines, Brazil, and Australia
